Fira Sultanova is back to participate the 34th Grandma’s Marathon. She returns just because of her love of distance running. This Marathon is her passion and gives her new spirit. She don’t want to miss it this time.
She is 49 year old Russian native and lives in Gainesville, Fla. She has achieved the women’s course record, and has won twice along the North Shore.
She is intended to prove a comeback after knee surgery, which did not allow her to participate in Marathons since Boston of 2008.
The most mentionable thing is that she is competing after losing her husband as well as coach, Viktor Zhdanov, to a heart attack last November.
She is great example of patience and courage. Her hard work shows her deep love of distance running as well as her firm decision and determination.
She wins or not, it does not matter, her passion has become a example for not only women but also for men
