Oregon kicks QB Jeremiah Masoli off team after second arrest

Bookmark and Share
Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, who had been suspended for the 2010 season after pleading guilty to breaking into a fraternity house, has been been kicked off the team following another arrest.

Masoli was cited for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended lisence after he was pulled over when he failed to stop when exiting a driveway.

The Oregonian reported that Oregon announced Masoli's removal from the team for "failure to adhere to obligations previously outlined" by Ducks football coach Chip Kelly.

"He knew what he had at stake," Kelly told The Oregonian. "We set parameters for him and it was up to him to make sure that he followed through. We had a plan in place, he had an opportunity to come back in 2011 and he failed to do the things that he needed to do."

The newspaper also reports that none of the charges carry a jail sentence, but it's not clear how these latest charges will affect his probation from his previous arrest.
