Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young was mentored by the late Steve McNair for many years, dating back to attending his football camp growing up.
One year after McNair was shot and killed on July 4, 2009, Young plans to spend the holiday in Mississippi with McNair's mother.
"I'm gonna go out to Mama Mac's house,'' Young told the Tennessean. "I'm gonna go out there and spend the weekend with Mama Mac in Mississippi.
"It's the one-year anniversary for Steve not being here. It's gonna be a sad moment, but we're gonna eat some barbecue and celebrate the life of Steve McNair, the things he put in my life and his family's life.''
McNair was killed by his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, who then turned the gun on herself and committed suicide.
A grand jury decided not to reopen the case earlier this month.
