In Early 90s Jay Shafer Built Tiny House
ay Shafer, designs and builds very small houses between 50 and 750 square feet,Shafer named his company after the first tiny house he built for himself in 1997. He helped establish the Small House Society in 2002. In 2003, he was commissioned by Gregory Paul Johnsonto build The Mobile Hermitage which became one of Jay’s first commercially sold homes. Jay Shafer builds his smaller designs himself and ships them by truck to consumers, and many of these smaller designs are mobile homes with built-in wheels, he founded the company in the mid 90s because people were expressing real interest in his small house
