USS Ponce And USS Kearsarge Enroute To Libya
USS PonceUSS Ponce and USS Kearsarge are enroute to Libya.
Navy Times says, “Defense Secretary Robert Gates ordered the Kearsarge and the amphibious transport dock Ponce to move from the U.S. Central Command region into the Mediterranean Sea to provide the capability for evacuation or humanitarian aid.”
The Jerusalem Post reports that both ships have entered the Suez Canal. Transiting between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean takes 11-16 hours.
