Froch vs. Ward to take place at Atlantic City on October 29th

boxing news
By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is going to have to settle for fighting WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward in the Super Six finals in Atlantic City, New Jersey instead of fighting in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 29th. Froch, 33, had been hoping to fight in Vegas because that was one of his dreams. But with the fight taking place in Atlantic City, Froch is going to have to settle for that. Ward also wanted to fight in Vegas, preferring that venue to Atlantic City.

Froch defeated 42-year-old Glen Johnson in his semifinals bout at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City in the Super Six tourney to get a shot at Ward. For his part, Ward easily beat Arthur Abraham by a lopsided 12 round decision in the semifinals to get to the finals to face Froch. Ward is considered the favorite to beat Froch. However, there a lot of boxing fans who think that Froch has the power to beat Ward.
But it will have to be by knockout because Froch isn’t fast and doesn’t have great boxing skills. He thinks he can beat Ward by decision or knockout, but not too many other people believe that he can do this. Froch has struggled in the tournament, winning a questionable 12 round decision over Andre Dirrell while fighting at home in Nottingham, England, and then getting beaten by Mikkel Kessler last year in a 12 round decision loss. Froch will likely be utterly humiliated by Ward on October 29th. Froch does well against slow guys that stand in front of him but struggles badly when in with talented fighters like Dirrell.
Ward is like another version of Dirrell, which means Froch is in for a long night of eating punches from Ward in this fight. It may not be a bad thing that the fight takes place in Atlantic City rather than Vegas because Froch won’t have Vegas tainted for him. He can always come back to Vegas and fight someone like Abraham again for a change of luck after the Super Six is over and Froch is licking his wounds from the Ward loss.
