Search enginge Google today switched on its new picture background feature by default to its homepage.
The option allows users to add personal photos to the background of the traditionally minimalist search page,
It will be set as default for 24 hours before returning to the site's more familiar blank white homepage.
The new feature brings Google in line with Microsoft's search engine rival Bing, which constantly changes its homepage photo on a daily basis to reflect events around the world.
"To provide you with an extra bit of inspiration, we‘ve collaborated with several well-known artists, sculptors and photographers to create a gallery of background images you can use to personalize your Google homepage," says Google.
Included in the collection are images that feature the work of Dale Chihuly, Jeff Koons, Tom Otterness, and Polly Apfelbaum as well a selection of nature images from National Geographic.
